If you’ve volunteered with GRACE at all in the last few months, then you’ve certainly met Anni Hengesbach-Gomes, our Volunteer and Public Relations Coordinator – and one of the latest additions to the team! If you haven’t had a chance to meet her, allow us to introduce her!
Anni was born in the Bay Area of California and lived there until she moved to Texas in high school. When it came time for college, she decided to head to the University of Oregon to earn a degree in Sociology. Growing up, Anni had a lot of big dreams – everything from becoming a firefighter to going to law school! She still has big dreams today, including returning to school for a Master’s degree in Sociology.
Anni found GRACE through a friend of her mother’s, and she is so excited to be a part of the team! Two things that stood out to her most when applying to work for GRACE were the emphasis on self-sufficiency and empowerment. “GRACE is going to meet you where you are at, and give you the tools to thrive,” she says. “…GRACE gives people the tools they need to feel secure and confident.”
A mantra that has always meant a lot to Anni is to always try putting yourself in another’s shoes. This kind of empathy is what has made her such a wonderful addition to the GRACE family – and we are so thankful to have her!
In her free time, Anni enjoys crafting – such as painting or making jewelry – hanging out with friends, and reading. Interested in becoming the next addition here at GRACE? Be sure to check out our current job openings to see if we’ve got the right fit for you!
