Keeping the Community Warm: Winter Coats Need

The first leaves have fallen and the holiday drinks are out – it is officially that time! This time of year, we are especially grateful for donations of gently-used and new winter coats and jackets. With the cooler weather, we anticipate a growing number of families needing jackets and coats in various sizes. Specifically elementary school-age all the way to teenage sizes are needed most. You can empty your coat closet, ask your friends to bring jackets and coats to your next party, or host a coat drive with your church or community group. “Kids wear what they like,” said Dina Pesina, GRACE Clothing Room Coordinator. “We want them to pick out their own coats and shoes, so they’ll put them on and keep them on—that’s the important thing.” If you are part of a civic or small group, this would be an ideal collection that isn’t cumbersome or unfeasible.

October: Car Care Awareness Month

Are you Car Care Aware? October is Fall Car Care Month, and that means taking a few extra steps to make sure your vehicle is in good operation. This may not only prolong the life of your car but save you time and keep you and your passengers safe. Keeping your check engine light off also ensures your car is not polluting more than necessary, which means better air quality for all of us in the region. Make sure your coolant levels are topped off with antifreeze to prevent your car from overheating and leaving you stranded. Winter months bring potential driving hazards such as icy roads so it’s important to prepare by checking your brakes and tires in the fall as the weather cools down. Worn treads on a tire can seriously impact a car’s ability to stop in the rain. If your tread depth is less than 4/32”,

NTX Giving Day – Thank You!

GRACE was first listed in Communities Foundation’s “North Texas Giving Day” role of agencies in 2012. And this past week, just like the ten years before, we were overwhelmed by the generosity of our community! We want to take a brief moment to thank all those who remembered us with a gift on NTXGD! These past few years have been unlike any others. COVID, economic instability, and other woes have impacted us all. But we have faced them together and, together, we have provided food, medical care, housing, transportation, rent and utilities assistance, senior care, and children’s programming for tens of thousands of families in our community. Our work continues as the number of clients coming to GRACE climbs every day. Because of you—our incredible community—our mission remains solid. Even facing doubling, and tripling, numbers of clients, our vow to God and to our community guides us to be competent
