With months of planning and preparation, this weeks’ Feed Our Kids- Spring Break has come and gone and we must say it was a huge success.
The GRACE Feed Our Kids is a summer lunch program that provides lunches for children at designated sites close to where they live. Most of the children qualify for reduced or free lunches during the school year. Lunches are provided throughout the summer and are made and served by various groups in the community.
This year for spring break, Feed Our Kids served an average of 30 lunches a day across 2 sites, distributing 409 lunches to kids in the community. Volunteers from First Baptist Church Grapevine and First United Methodist Church have been working endlessly to make this an awesome week for the children in the community. “What an exciting and wonderful week for Feed Our Kids” said Beth. “We served our neighborhood kids all while giving them the additional opportunity to play, get fresh air and have a healthy lunch during the break from school.”
Shout out to our amazing volunteers from First Baptist Church Grapevine and First United Methodist for serving at our GRACE Food Pantry and Scribner locations.
GRACE Feed Our Kids program was also presented with a check for $10,000 from our partners at ATMOS Energy. ATMOS Energy has a focus on childhood hunger as part of their company wide community initiatives. They do this to help fuel safe and thriving communities. We are very proud for the partnership between ATMOS Energy and GRACE. Their support for our mission will be helpful for years to come.
As we prepare for Feed Our Kids this summer, we want you to know we are always looking for volunteers. If you would like to know more about Feed Our Kids or would like to volunteer, please visit GRACEGrapevine.org or contact Beth Chernik at bchernik@gracegrapevine.org.
