Do you ever wonder how volunteering benefits GRACE?
Volunteers are so important to a non-profit in many ways. They boost visibility for the non-profit and they become advocates for the mission. Volunteers can increase the impacts of a cause and save the non-profit money.
In regard to saving money, by donating time, volunteers are directly saving resources for GRACE. Every hour that you give to our community through volunteerism is an hour that the community gains back in real dollars. The national rate for an hour of volunteering is currently estimated to be $31.80/hr. Those dollars can then be spent in other ways that serve and better the community!
What GRACE especially loves about our volunteers is the diversity of people and skills that are brought to our programs and our events. This truly helps better our community. Without volunteers, the GRACE mission is just words on paper. The volunteers that assist GRACE staff day in and day out demonstrate what it truly means to show compassion for those less fortunate.
So, how can you get involved and start volunteering with GRACE? Here is a simple guide to help you get started!
1. Fill out an application. This needs to be done by all volunteers! The application can be found online here.
2. Join us at a Volunteer Orientation. This is for all new GRACE volunteers! Orientation will consist of an overview of the history of GRACE, our programs and all opportunities available. If you are volunteering with a civic or community group, or a church, the main liaison/contact can attend our orientation and disseminate the information to the group (but all volunteers still need to submit an application).
Orientations are in person every other Tuesday at 4:00 pm at GRACE Main, 837 E. Walnut St. Grapevine, TX 76051. Those dates can be found here.
3. Sign up for a volunteer shift and begin volunteering! Shift signups will be emailed to you after completion of application and orientation!
