Another GRACE Poker Tournament is in the books, and what an spectacular night at Park Place Jaguar-Land Rover DFW it was. Amazing door prizes, delicious appetizers, and healthy competition helped to warm everyone up from a week full of crazy Texas weather!
For the second year in a row, the Poker Tournament happened to fall on a weekend when DFW is recovering from a winter storm. Fortunately, that has never stopped our wonderful community members from coming out and supporting GRACE!
As guests checked in, they could smell the scent of Ted Bilsky’s Scratch Kitchen and Fine Foods filling the showroom. GRACE’s CEO, Shonda Schaefer, invited everyone to the bar to have a drink (with the help of Classic Wine and Hop & Sting Brewery) and to try some of Ted’s delicious foods. Also, compliments of Debra Perryman with Silver Oak Commercial Realty, we had an expert from DFW Cigar Rollers offering up hand rolled cigars. After some mingling, it was time for the tournament to begin.
Before the reading of the rules, longtime GRACE volunteer and supporter, Lynda Warner opened up the event, by unveiling the new sign that will be a part of the GRACE Community Clinic. A corner in the clinic will be named after Robert Warner’s family, called “Warner Corner”. “The Warner family are wonderful GRACE Supporters,” said Shonda. “There is nothing that they wouldn’t do for our community and we love having them involved with GRACE.”
After the unveiling of the “Warner Corner” sign, Poker Pro, Bryan Campanello went over the instructions for the evening and with that, the tournament was on. Complete concentration fell onto the eyes of the players as they thought of only one thing. “1st place”.
After a couple of hours, the tournament was down to the last table. These nine players let it be known that they were in it to win it. They included Paul Schaefer, Debbie Perryman, David Chase, Trent Podsednik, David Parrish, Jeff Netzer, Max Ramos, Bobby Jones, and Terry Sandlin.
After an entertaining battle going back and forth, Max Ramos finished in 3rd place, Bobby Jones finished in 2nd place and the 2023 GRACE Poker tournament Winner is Terry Sandlin. Terry is the lucky winner of a 3-day trip to Vegas, compliments of Shannon O’Brian and The Travel Purveyor. Second place won a Jaguar or Land Rover for a “weekend ride” compliments of Park Place Jaguar-Land Rover DFW. All three winners also received wine and elegant glasses from Classic Wine and swag bags from Bryan Campanello.
As players were leaving they all received swag bags of Solo Stoves, again compliments of Park Place Jaguar-Land Rover DFW and everyone received a midnight snack bag of treats from Scratch Kitchen.
We want to thank all of the great sponsors, staff, and caterers for all the hard work you did, making this event one of the best GRACE Poker Tournaments yet. The GRACE staff are already planning for next year’s Poker Tournament and how we can top it.
